Lesson Plan "Favourite Films"


Form 4  Rivne primary school 1            Teacher: Tetiana  Kornyliuk
Subtopic :  Favourite Films
Objectives:   -    to  practise topical vocabulary;
-         to improve pupils’ skills in speaking;
-         to practise using the Present Simple tense;
-         to teach pupils to work in groups and pairs;
-         to teach pupils to work with projects;
-         to develop pupils’ memory, attention, imaginative ability;
-         to widen pupils’ knowledge about kinds of films;
-         to motivate pupils to study and understand English.
Equipment: PB, WB, flashcards, cards with sounds, cards with tasks,  handouts, multi-media.
Procedure
I  Introduction.
1. Organizing moment.
2.  Warming-up. T-P1: How are you today?
   I am fine/good/ O.K./ not bad. Thank you.
 P1-P2: How are you today? I am… . Thank   you.
T: I am glad that you are in a good mood. And now  look at the screen. (video from “Secret of the Wings”)
So, I hope you’ve understood – today we are going to talk about favourite films.
II  Main part.
3. Phonetic drill.
T: But first of all let’s train our tongues.
[i]: film, cinema, impolite, skin, comedy.
[z ]: wise, lazy, eyes, musical.
Lazy Susie likes watching musicals and comedies.
4. Revising vocabulary.
a) T: And now let’s remember kinds of films. Look at the blackboard! What is this?
Ps: This is a cinema.
T: You are right. Let’s have a look what films are on in the cinema.
Children come up to the blackboard, turn over the chair and read kinds of films.
P1: a comedy;
 T: And now look at the screen -  pupils watch the presentation  - “Kinds of Films” and repeat the names after the teacher)
P2: a n animation cartoon;  (repeat this kind – presentation)
P3:a love story....
T: Good for you!
b)work in pairs.
T: Now look at the screen. You see different kinds of films. Work in pairs:
P1: What kind of film is it?
P2: It is a (an)……….
T: Well done!
5. Listening . (Family and Friends  4 ex. 2  p.68)
 a)pre-listening stage:
T: We are going to listen: What’s on TV tonight?  Listen carefully and answer :
What’s on Channel 1 and Channel 2 tonight?
But first of all some unknown words:
To be lucky-щастить; to chase- переслідувати; to play tricks- обдурювати; to escape- втікати.

P1: “Charlie and Chocolate Factory” is on Channel 1 tonight.

1.     Charlie Bucket always dreams about cheese.
2.     He and his family are not poor.
3.     Willy Wonka puts golden tickets inside his chocolate bars for a competition.
4.     Tom is not naughty cat.
5.     Jerry is brave and clever.
6.     Jerry doesn’t like to play tricks on Tom.
P1: the first sentence – false; P2:  the second sentence – false…..
T: Super work!
T: And now let’s have a rest. Stand up, please. Game “Simon says”
6. Speaking.
a) game “Hot Seat” (there are two groups – they make a circle, one member from each group chooses hot seat – she/he begin to ask other pupil):
P1:What kind of films do you like to watch?
P2:I like …..
P1: Why?
P2:Because they are …..
And then this person who sits on the hot seat, stands up and the person who answers take his/her hot seat.  This is the way children circle and ask each other. The game is finished when a person who has hot seat again sits in this chair. The winner is who faster circles and takes hot seat.
b) project “My Favourite Film”
T: Look at the screen. There are different kinds of films:
“Tom Sawyer”. “Shrek”, “Home Alone”, “Charlie and Chocolate Factory”, “Titanic”. Children make groups according to the film they like the most. Teacher gives them a piece of paper with the picture of the film and they  make a description.
My favourite film is…..
It is a (an) (kind of film)…..
My favourite film character is….
What does he/she look like?
What is he/she like?
Then each group tells about their favourite films.
T: Great job!
III Summary of the lesson.
7. Hometask.
T: Well, our lesson comes to the end. Open your day-books and write down the hometask for the next lesson: to prepare the project “My favourite Film”.

Objectives:   -   to practise topical vocabulary;
-         to improve pupils’ skills in speaking;
-         to teach writing –letter Yy;
-         to teach pupils to work in groups and pairs;
-         to develop pupils’ memory, attention, phoneme hearing;
-         to bring up friendship;
-         to motivate pupils to study and understand English;
-         to teach pupils to respect the culture of other nations .
Equipment: Pupil’s Book, Activity Book, handwriting book, flashcards, cards with sounds, tape-recorder, handouts, pictures, multimedia.

Procedure
I  Introduction
1. Organizing moment.
T:   Good morning dear children!
Ps:  Good morning dear teacher!
       Good morning! How are you?
       I am very happy –
       To say hello to you!
2. Warming-up.
T-P1: How are you today?
   I am fine/good/ OK./ not bad. Thank you.
 P1-P2: How are you today? I am… . Thank   you.
Song “Hello, hello!”

II  Main part
T: I am glad that you are in a good mood. And today we go on to talk about toys. We’ll do a lot of different tasks.

3. Phonetic drill.
T: But first of all let’s train our tongues. (presentation)
T-P1: Look at the screen. What sound is this? P1: This is a sound [ᴂ] T:repeat all together [ᴂ] , let’s read this word -  P2: cat, T: repeat all together – cat.
[ᴂ]  cat    T:  Good! and now name the letter in bold - P3: this is a letter A
T: let’s write a letter A on the blackboard.

T: and now let’s read word combinations and sentences:
a big doll, a red bell, a pink kite.

4. Revising vocabulary:

6. Speaking.

7. Writing.
T: Today we are going to learn a new letter. But first let’s remember our previous letters.
Multimedia – video (children name the letters and the words with this letter)

T: And  this is a letter Yy.
a) introduce  Y and y,(print letters);  sound  [j]: yo-yo, yellow, yes, you.

-         to motivate pupils to study and understand English;
-         to teach pupils to respect the culture of other nations .

Look, children! I have got a puzzle, but I need your help to make it correctly. Will you help me?
Ps: Yes! T: OK. For each task you’ll get one part of this puzzle and at the end we’ll see what it is. So, the first task is…

T: And now we are going to listen. Look at the screen again (the same picture). You will hear questions . Listen carefully. Then you are going to do a task.
c) post  listening: Open your book, please. Page 72. Your task is to circle the right answer.

6. Speaking.

b)mini-project ”In the playground”.
T: Look children, what is this? Ps: This is a playground. T: Yes, you are right. But it is not colourful. Let’s colour it. (pupils get different pictures of the slide, swing, sand-box,…  colour them and put them on the map of the playground) Children tell about the playground: P1 – There is a slide in the playground. P2 – There are lots of trees in the playground. P3 – gets a picture of a child and says what can he/she do in the playground: I can ride a bike…..

Objectives:  -    to   practise topical vocabulary;
-         to practise using the prepositions of place;
-         to teach pupils to work in teams;
-         to develop pupils’ memory, attention, ability to think logically;
-         to motivate pupils to study and understand English.
Equipment: cards with tasks, handouts, pupils’ badges.
Procedure
I  Introduction.
T: Good afternoon dear children!
Ps: Good afternoon dear teacher!
T: Today we have the quest “In the City”, but first let’s listen to our presenters :
 Good afternoon  dear guests!
 Доброго дня  дорогі гості!
Today pupils of the 3 form  take part  in the Quest «In the city».
Сьогодні учні 3 класу  приймають участь  у квесті «Прогулянка  містом».
We have three teams  : Right, Left and Stop.
Ми маємо три команди : Right, Left i Stop.
 And each  team has  the emblem.
Кожна команда має власну емблему.
Clap your hands!
Ваші оплески!
T: Thank you girls. According to St. Valentine’s Day we celebrate today, so Right-you have yellow heart, Left- blue heart, Stop – red heart (emblem).You will have four tasks, for each correctly done task I give you your route where you must find the heart the same colour of your emblem. (teacher explains the rules of the quest )

After this task pupils get the  route where to find the next heart.
3r. Go to your classroom – under the desk near the wall.
3l. Assembly Hall – under the bench.
3s. Go to the English Study – 1 floor, behind the big blackboard.
Children found the third heart and get the third task.
3.     Look and say: What does the sign say? (cards with tasks – road signs)
